Acclaimed author, Alex Capus will speak at EIBF and Edinburgh Fringe on his new title, Sailing by Starlight.
Date: 2010-08-23

Acclaimed author, Alex Capus, author of A Matter of Time, will be speaking at the Edinburgh International Book Festival on Monday 23rd August at 7.30pm on his new book Sailing by Starlight: In Search of Treasure Island.

Capus will be appearing togehter with Carsten Jensen.
Two highly original writers from Europe come together in an event featuring lands at opposite ends of the world. Voted the finest Danish novel in a quarter of a century, We, The Drowned by Carsten Jensen is a vast epic of adventure, courage and passion set in the mid-19th century. Alex Capus’s book Sailing by Starlight is a literary traveller, setting out to prove that Robert Louis Stevenson’s ‘treasure island’ actually exists.

In Sailing by Starlight Capus takes us on an exploratory journey to show that Robert Louis Stevenson's 'treasure island' actually exists; and that it exists in a place quite different from where hordes of treasure-hunters have been seeking it for generations.

Sailing by Starlight was featured in the TLS on June 25th where Capus was commended for his new book: 'Like all good treasure hunters, Capus sees clues everywhere: 'it seems positively suspicious that [Stevenson] makes no mention' of the (real) treasure island, he writes'.

Capus will also be speaking at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival on Tuesday 24th August, 2.30pm at Word Power Books (43-45 West Nicholson Street, Edinburgh). Click here for details.
