Submissions Criteria
Haus Publishing specialises in biographies. The Life&Times series comprises of a collection of short, illustrated, high quality, informative, accessible biographies. Each biography examines the life, work and historical context of a major cultural, intellectual or historical figure. We do not publish autobiographies or biographies of living subjects. In addition we publish HausBooks which are hardback biographies, longer in content than the L&T list and can be more flexible in their format and subject.
We also publish a literary travel series, The Armchair Traveller, which is travel literature of a personal nature. These are not guide books.
We publish a small list of approximately 20-25 new titles a year.
Haus does accept unsolicited submissions direct from authors. When submitting to Haus Publishing please enclose:
- A covering letter, introducing yourself.
- If you have a completed manuscript, then send a book proposal which must include a synopsis, sample chapter headings and the first chapter of the manuscript. It should also briefly include any relevant information about your writing history.
- If you have not yet written the manuscript, please send a book proposal (see above) and a sample chapter of your writing. As above, your proposal should briefly include any relevant information about your writing history.
- Please indicate in your covering letter whether you would like the manuscript returned. If you do, then make sure that you enclose a stamped addressed envelope with the correct postage to cover the cost of its return, otherwise it will be recycled.
Submissions should be made by post only. Please do not send us your work on computer disc.
We cannot take any responsibility for the loss of unsolicited submissions, though of course we make every effort to look after the material that we receive. We will endeavour to respond to any submission as soon as possible.
Please address your covering letter to:
