The Point of No Return
By Mojib Latif
There is no doubt: climate change is happening, and mankind is increasingly to blame. Climate Change: The Point of No Return provides a solid basis for the current discussion about climate change, by addressing the arguments from both sides of the debate and offering an objective evaluation of the facts. Using the latest scientific information about the causes of the global climate change, Professor Latif presents the likely scenario that will face us if we don’t dedicate ourselves to a course of sustainable development, and offers concrete options for action.
Mojib Latif is Professor for Climate Physics at the University of Kiel. He has been a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society since 2002 and was awarded the Max Planck Prize for his ability to explain complicated research in a way which is accessible and understandable for all.

Review in CHOICE Magazine (USA), April 2010:
'This English translation of Climate Change covers materials common to the majority of books on this topic. The structure of the book is systematic; Latif (Univ. of Kiel, Germany) demonstrates good familiarity with the topics under consideration and presents them in an engaging manner. However, there are many similar books, and this work is considerably less comprehensive and visually stimulating than J. Houghton's Global Warming (4th ed., 2009; 3rd ed., CH, Mar'05, 42-4085; 2nd ed., CH, May'98, 35-5141); Dire Predictions, by M. Mann, L. Kump, and the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change (IPCC) (2008); or the IPCC reports from which many of the figures shown in the current book are redrawn. Thus, although Climate Change is a competent addition to the literature and has no obvious flaws, it does not represent a significant advancement relative to other similar works. Additionally, although the translation is generally good, use of 'man's influence' rather than 'anthropogenic' or 'human' is not ideal. The bibliography is very short, and contains mainly historical pieces, several of which are not available in English. There is no index, but there is a list of nomenclature. Summing Up: Recommended. General readers. -- S. C. Pryor, Indiana University.'
